The TIH 445 mobile crane was initially developed as T 159 (also MDK 16) in VEB (national-owned) agricultural machinery construction "Red Banner" in the Saxon Doebel from 1970. The T 159 self-propelled and pneumatic implement had front wheel drive and rear steering. The slightly slanted cab cab is built between the front and rear axles and the drive motor is positioned above the steering axle, while a turning device for the boom has been built above the front axle. The necessary folding supports of the T 159 are mounted behind the front axles. Like so many vehicles of the DDR the T 159 also serves from the tested kit system.
