It has been the dream car of many 18-year-old driver's license newcomers to the baby boomer generation. The Golf I as a GTI had that, WAS one wanted at the time: A compact sympathy car like the golf and a machine that could quite turn up. In view of their reduced color palette, the GTI was quite conspicuous. The Lemon yellow that Wiking chose this time looks very special, but the bright colors were set for the first generation of Golf GTI.
