The electric locomotives series 1216 (Taurus 3) are multi-system three-phase universal locomotives based on the technology of the Siemens EuroSprinter type family. The exterior and the high-speed bogies were taken over by the first two generations of Taurus, but with some detail changes.From 2006 to 2008 50 locomotives were delivered to the OeBB.
